Police Firearms Incident

So some civilian worker is shot during Firearms awareness training.
Was He/She/It handling a Firearm without the necessary authority?
Was the Range Safety Officer present?
Etc.
No doubt the inquiry shall let us all know.
I recall a child wounded in the ankle back in the early eighties from a Firearm discharged at Bisley Camp (child was in a playground some considerable distance away)- the suspected firearm was a 9mm pistol in use at a Police Practical competition. However a seperate incident to the Policeman shooting himself in the calf/foot by discharging a pistol whilst romoving it 'cocked and ready' from the holster. Also a seperate incident from the police response unit that left the sliding door of a transit open - so spilling weapons onto a public road without the knowledge of the team responsible at the time!
Maybe the creeping menace of firearms in police use should be addressed before more tragedies unfold.
